"Almost 250 people showed up to the funeral of Paige Merton who died tragically on the 20th April.
Paige was killed instantly after a lorry collided into the front of her brand new ford focus that
she had bought just two weeks before the accident. Paige was pronounced dead at the scene.
Paige (an avid liverpool football club supporter) was known as a pretty, funny, caring member of the
communitity who's death has shocked family, friends and neighbours. Paige's mother, Carol, stated,
'this is an unexplainable loss. Paige was not just my daughter, but a friend. I will make sure
justice is done for this shocking accident so that my girl didn't die in vain. I hope that everyone
will now be more careful on the roads, so that this doesn't happen again. I love my daughter, and I
miss her so much, she's forever in my heart now'.
Paige had wanted a black ford focus for almost a year and had worked hard at her job as a waitress
to earn money to buy one. She had also been due to go on holiday to Majorca with five of her friends
in July this year. Close friend of Paige, Jessica Evans, said, 'Paige was just the most lovely
person ever. She was always kind, always smiling. I can't believe this has happened to her. I never
dreamt this could happen to someone like her. We all miss her so much'.
Paige's funeral was held on the 25th April and the church was full. Paige was brought into the
church with a pink coffin with a liverpool sheet over the top. It was said that there was not a dry
eye in the house. May Paige's family be comforted by the support that is being shown, and may
everyone be more careful on the roads to stop accidents occuring like this again."
HER BROTHER'S VIEW ON PAIGE:
"Paige loved life, that is something we'll never doubt or forget. She lived everyday with a smile
and a boost of enthusiasm she'd gradually pass to other people until everyone was smiling along with
her. Paige could brighten a whole room with her smile, and when she left it the room would be
silent, for they would be in shock that there was someone so happy and so beautiful. I will always
rememeber Paige for being beautiful inside and out. I had beautiful memories with her, which I will
keep with me for the rest of my life. She gave me unforgettable moments and I will forever cherish
them. Although Paige's life was short, it was well-lived. I, along with my parents and siblings, are
grateful for the beautiful 18 years we were blessed with her. We know now what we always suspected,
that Paige was an angel. I love you, we all do. You're forever alive in my heart, I promise"
